February 05, 2024 | Women's Lacrosse
Theresa Sherry, one of the all-time greats in the storied history of Princeton's women's lacrosse program, was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame on January 27, another tremendous milestone in a legendary life and career.
A member of the 2002 and 2003 NCAA championship teams at Princeton, Sherry was a four-time Ivy League champion -- going 26-2 in Ivy League games in her four years. She was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award in 2004 after earning Midfielder of the Year honors from Inside Lacrosse and being named Ivy League Player of the Year. A three-time first-team IWLCA All-American, Sherry earned four All-Ivy honors during her time as a Tiger -- including three first-team All-Ivy selections -- and was a recipient of the C. Otto von Kienbusch Award in 2004 as the Most Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete at Princeton.
Her 197 career points were No. 4 all-time by a Princeton player at the time of her graduation and still rank No. 9 in Princeton history. She is also still No. 6 all-time in goals (161) by a Princeton player, No. 8 in draw controls (108), and No. 11 in caused turnovers (72). She was part of the most accomplished group of players in program history, Sherry reached Championship Weekend all four years in college and played in 76 career games which ranks No. 3 all-time by a Tiger.
A multi-sport star, Sherry was part of three Ivy League championships as a soccer player.
After graduation, Sherry turned to coaching. She spent four years as head coach at Cal and was named 2008 MPSF Coach of the Year. She now leads The Tenacity Project, a club program which focuses on on using sports to teach life lessons, promote whole person development, and empower young women. For her work with Tenacity, Sherry was honored as the Positive Coaching Alliance National Coach of the Year in 2023.
