March 01, 2024 | Men's Squash
A rematch of the epic final men's match in Jadwin Gym is set for Saturday in Philadelphia, and a trip to the CSA finals is on the line.
No. 2 Princeton earned that trip to the CSA semis with a 7-2 win over No. 10 Virginia on Friday, setting up a semifinal against No. 3 Penn. The teams met on Feb. 10 in Jadwin, with Princeton rallying from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 and claim its first Ivy League title since 2013 while handing Penn its first loss of the Ivy season as both teams shared the title.
Live scoring of the match is available here, and a YouTube stream is available here.
No. 1 Trinity or No. 5 Yale will be Sunday's opponent for Princeton, whether in the final or the third-place match. The win guarantees at least matching Princeton's best finish since 2020, when the Tigers finished fourth. Since the 2012 CSA title, Princeton's best finish has been third, in 2013.
In Friday's match, Karim Elbarbary, Thomas Rosini, Alastair Cho and Alhassan Khalil were all winners in three games both while Zain Ahmed and Gordon Lam fended off comeback attempts after taking a 2-0 lead in winning in four, and Ahmed Hussein won consecutive elimination games after trailing 2-1 in games to win in five.
