PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 52 Princeton University women's tennis team outlasted No. 44 Columbia Friday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium, 4-3.
The No. 52 Tigers started off on a high note by winning the doubles point. The duo of Alice Ferlito and Neha Velaga first defeated Rachele Rimondini and Winta Tewolde at No. 3, 6-3, before Maia Sung and Madeleine Jessup earned a 7-5 victory over Sophia Strugnell and Gayathri Krishnan at No. 2.
In singles, Leena Bennetto defeated Keita at No. 2, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, before Velaga defeated Anna Zhang in a three-set battle, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Sung clinched the match for Princeton at No. 3, overcoming Julia Haynes 7-6, 6-4.
