Season-High .404 Hitting Percentage Powers Women's Volleyball Past Columbia, 3-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team used a season-high .404 hitting percentage to earn a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-19) sweep against Columbia Saturday evening inside Dillon Gymnasium.
The Tigers' .404 hitting percentage was the second-highest highest recorded in a match by an Ivy League team in 2025.
The Lions started off hot, using a 5-0 run to jump out to a 5-1 advantage. Princeton eventually took the lead at 9-8, before using a 4-0 run that included a pair of Columbia errors along with kills by Draper and Scalamandre to go up 14-11. The Tigers maintained their lead and closed the set out with a kill by McNair then a service ace by Bold, earning the 25-21 victory and going up 1-0.
Columbia showed resilience in the third set and took a 13-11 advantage. Nutakor responded with a kill that ignited a 4-0 run, swinging the momentum the Tigers' way and putting Princeton in front, 15-13. A huge double block by Onyechi and Shelby Burriss gave Princeton match point at 24-18, before the match ended with a Lion service error, 25-19, giving the Tigers the 3-0 sweep.
Princeton hosts the University of Pennsylvania (9-8, 3-4) inside Dillon Gymnasium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24.

Lucia Scalamandre led the way with a match-high 12 kills on a .800 hitting percentage, which ties the highest hitting percentage by an Ivy League player this season. Valerie Nutakor recorded 12 kills on a .429 hitting percentage along with eight digs, a figure that tied the match-high. Erin McNair compiled 10 kills and eight digs while Sydney Draper handed out a match-high 32 assists. In addition, Sydney Bold tallied eight digs and a match-high four service ace and Jackie Onyechi recorded a match-high three blocks."It comes down to the team, we're always supporting each other."

Princeton got off to an impressive start in the second set, with a Scalamandre kill igniting an 8-1 that saw the Tigers surge ahead, 10-3. Princeton did not let up, with a Nutakor kill giving the Tigers a 20-12 advantage.
