Princeton Wraps Non-Conference Play vs. Temple (Fri.), at Villanova (Sat.)

PRINCETON, N.J. — The Princeton University women's volleyball team closes out non-conference play this weekend, returning home to Dillon Gymnasium for its home opener against Temple on Friday (5 p.m.) before heading to Villanova on Saturday (7 p.m.) for a rematch of a match played two weekends ago.
The Tigers (2-3) enter the weekend coming off a 2-1 showing in College Park, Md., picking up wins over Saint Peter's and Seton Hall before falling to host Maryland in straight sets on Saturday.

Championship Tradition
The Tigers won their 21st Ivy League title in program history in 2025, finishing Ivy play with a 11-3 record. Princeton's 21 Ivy titles are the most of any Ivy program.
Head Coach Sabrina King
King is in her 15th season as head coach at Princeton. She has guided the Tigers to seven Ivy League titles, four NCAA Tournament appearances and has been named Ivy Coach of the Year three times. Throughout her tenure as head coach, King has coached six Ivy League Players of the Year and 52 All-Ivy honorees. A member of the Class of 2001 at Princeton, she won three Ivy titles as a player, was the 1999 Ivy Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Ivy selection.
Draper as the Difference Maker
The 2023 Rookie of the Year and 2025 Ivy League Player of the Year is sixth in the Princeton record books for Most Assists in a Career (2897). She's just 103 assists from becoming the sixth Tiger to join the 3,000-assist club.
Stellar Season For Shelby
Burriss was the Ivy league Rookie of the Week twice last season. In her first season, she ranked eighth in the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.342), seventh in blocks (56) and tenth in blocks-per-set (0.78) as well as fourth on the team in kills (129).
Back and Better
Sylvia Bunde, Taylor Clarke, and Olivia Foye missed parts of the 2025 due to injury. They are back to full strength for 2026.
Recap From Maryland Tournament
Princeton took care of business against Saint Peter's last Friday to open the weekend, sweeping the Peacocks in three sets. Ashtyn Sims (17 kills) and Erin McNair (16) combined for 33 kills to lead the attack, while Jackie Onyechi had eight block assists. On Saturday, the Tigers survived a 2-1 deficit and came back to beat Seton Hall in five sets, closing the decider on a 5-0 run. McNair recorded a career-high 22 kills, while Sydney Draper finished with a season-high 56 assists. In the nightcap, the host Terrapins dominated Princeton in a 3-0 sweep. McNair and Sims were named to the All-Tournament team.
Stat Check-In
Sims remains the Tigers' leader in total kills (60) and kills per set (2.73) through the first six matches of the 2026 season, but McNair (50, 2.63) and Ava Harrington (40, 1.90) are right behind. Draper leads the team with 201 assists, averaging 9.14 per set. On defense, Sydney Bold has a team-leading 67 digs (3.05 per set), while Draper has registered 44 (2.00). Onyechi has been a force up front, totaling 24 blocks (along with a team-leading three solos).
Among Ivy League Leaders
Draper is second in the Ancient Eight in assists per set (9.14) and assists (201). Onyechi is ranked sixth in blocks per set (1.14) and seventh in total blocks (24). The Tigers have two hitters among the Ivy's Top 10 in attack percentage with Burriss (.362) and McNair (.342).
Scouting Temple
The Owls are 5-4 so far this year, but have lost three of their last four matches, most recently dropping a five-set decision to fellow Ivy Cornell on Saturday. Temple's only victory last weekend came in straight sets against New Haven. Olivia Hummel leads the way with 91 kills (averaging 3.03 per set), while Khenedi Guest and Kennedy Crayton have 79 and 78, respectively. Lexi Yoza is the team's leading setter with 265 assists and an 8.83 average. She also leads the way with 90 digs. Steel Sinai's 26 total blocks are a team-high total. This is the 10th meeting all-time between Princeton and Temple, and the first since 2023. The Owls are 5-4 against the Tigers, defeating them in five sets the last time out.
Scouting Villanova
Like Temple, the Wildcats are also 5-4 to begin the season, but have dropped their last two matches. Villanova took a set from defending national champion Penn State on Tuesday night in State College before falling in four sets. Last Friday, the Wildcats fell in straight sets to Iowa State. Campbell McKinnon has a team-high 101 kills, with Cat Young (79) and Chloe Kelly (74) trailing closely behind. Alyssa Nelson leads the 'Cats with 236 assists at 6.56 per set, while also pacing the field in digs (81). The leading attacker, McKinnon has also excelled defensively with a team-leading 40 total blocks, along with eight solos. This is the second time this season Princeton and Villanova are meeting after the Wildcats spoiled the Tigers' season opener on Sept. 4 at Colgate. In that match, Onyechi had 14 kills to lead the team, while Sims (11) and Harrington (10) also finished in double figures. Draper had 40 assists and 10 digs, while Princeton out-hit Villanova, .198-.162.
