
Fantinelli Earns Ivy Golfer of The Month; Heads To World Amateur Team Championships

Riccardo Fantinelli has started his senior season in fine form, earning Ivy League Golfer of the Month honors for September as his superb play has paced the Tigers through their first two tournaments.
That award adds some energy to an exciting October upcoming for Fantinelli who is headed to Singapore for the World Amateur Team Championships October 8-11 at the Tanah Merah Country Club.
Fantinelli will represent Italy for the second time at the WATC, joined by teammates Michele Ferrero and Filippo Ponzano. The Italian continent will be led by captain Alain Vergari and coach Alberto Binaghi.
The Italians are ranked No. 6 in the latest World Amateur Team Rankings as organized by the International Golf Federation (IGF).
The WATC includes four rounds of team stroke play, and the winning team at the end of the four days will be presented the Eisenhower Cup. The United States won the WATC in 2023, while Australia and Norway tied for second. Fantinelli and Italy were fifth in 2023.
This past summer, Fantinelli was part of Team Italy as they won the European Amateur Team Championship in Ireland. Fantinelli was two over the two rounds of individual play in the event, and then went on to secure 2.5 points over the three Match Play days en route to the championship.
Fantinelli's form is ready for the world stage as he finished third at both the Rod Myers Invite and the Jim DeLapa Collegiate to open his senior season for the Tigers. Over six round this past month his stroke average was 68.3 and he was in the 60s in four of six rounds while shooting even-par or better in all six rounds. Last time out. he tied the program low round (65) and 54-hole total (200) en route to -10 finish at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate.
