Men’s Water Polo Takes Down MIT To Advance To NWPC Championship Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Princeton men's water polo team is heading to its eighth consecutive NWPC championship game.
The Tigers took down the MIT Engineers 17-7 to advance to the title game.
Enrique Nuño got the scoring started with the first two goals of the contest. Princeton outscored the Engineers 5-2 in the first quarter with four different scorers.
The Tigers continued to work in the second, tacking on another four goals to the score. Nuño scored with one second left in the half to put Princeton up by three.
Kristóf Kovács and the defense came up big for Princeton in the second half, holding MIT to just one goal in the second half.
Kovács racked up 10 saves in the final two quarters of play including a shutout fourth.
Princeton scored six unanswered goals to close out the contest.
Nuño led the offense with four goals to earn Player of the Game status. Finn LeSieur added a hat trick of his own and Kovács finished the day with 13 saves in the cage.
The team will face the No. 2 seed Harvard Crimson with an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and the NWPC title up for grabs. The game is set for 12:00 PM at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
