Women's Volleyball Clinches Ivy Tournament Spot With 3-0 Sweep at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team clinched a spot in the 2025 Ivy League Tournament after sweeping Cornell inside Newman Arena Saturday night, 3-0 (25-13, 32-30, 25-18). The Tigers have now clinched a spot in the Ivy Tournament in each of the four seasons of its existence.
The win ties Princeton with Cornell at the top of the Ivy League standing, as both teams is now 9-3 in conference play.
The Tigers got off to a fast start, with a Draper kill leading an early 4-0 run that put Princeton up 6-1. Another dump by Draper ignited a 5-0 run that gave the Tigers a commanding 19-10 advantage. A Nutakor kill saw Princeton earn set point at 24-12 before Burriss put down the kill to win the set for the Tigers, 25-13.
While the Tigers led by as much as six points, 20-16, in the second set, Princeton and Cornell would play to a stalemate at 25-25. The Tigers and Big Red would exchange set points in what was a marathon set; with the score tied at 30-30, a kill by Erin McNair put Princeton ahead 31-30 then an elite defensive display by the Tigers led to a Nutakor kill that gave Princeton the 32-20 second set victory.
A kill by Nutakor ignited an early 4-0 run that put the Tigers ahead, 10-4. Princeton remained in control, never leading by less than four and ultimately taking match point at 24-18 after a kill by Shelby Burriss. The Tigers would again shine defensively on match point, with a double block by Harrington and Scalamandre closing it out to make it 25-18 final score in the third set.

The Tigers host Harvard (6-14, 5-7) on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. inside Dillon Gymnasium.

Valerie Nutakor produced a dominant performance, recording a match-high 20 kills on a .415 hitting percentage and 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Ava Harrington recorded nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage while Sydney Draper tallied a match-high 32 assists, eight digs and eight kills. Sydney Bold's 19 digs were also a match-high, as were Lucia Scalamandre's five blocks.MATCH POINT.
