Princeton Women Top Yale, Fall To Harvard At HYP Meet
February 01, 2025 | Women's Swimming and Diving
The results of this weekend's HYP meet at Yale's Kiphuth Exhibition Pool were more than enough to whet — or is that, wet? — the collective appetites of the three teams involved as they look ahead to the Ivy League championships in three weekends.
Princeton defeated Yale 178-121, while Harvard edged Princeton 156-143 and defeated Yale 170-129 as the teams gave a small window into what to expect at DeNunzio Pool for the league meet.
Princeton had four individual winners and one relay win on Day 2 of the meet. Eleanor Sun won the 200 individual medley in 1:58.00 and finished second behind teammate Dakota Tucker in the 200 backstroke while also joining Veronique Rossouw, Ela Noble and Jenna Walters to win the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, by a half-second.
Walters was also an individual winner, taking the 100 free in 49.89 and leading Noble and Natalie Farquhar to a 1-2-4 Tiger finish in the event. Heidi Smithwick won the 500 freestyle in 4:48.93, with Farquhar in fourth and Emily Appleton in fifth, and was second in the 100 butterfly.
Princeton will swim at the BU Winter Open and host the Tower Diving Event this coming weekend in the final competition prior to the Ivy championships Feb. 19-22.
