Princeton will look to rebound from a 6-3 loss at No. 1 Penn two weekends ago in what will be the team's final match before the CSA team championships in Philadelphia beginning March 6. Virginia is coming off a successful trip to upstate New York last weekend, defeating No. 9 Cornell 7-2 on Saturday and No. 14 Rochester 8-1 on Sunday in matches played at Cornell.
The match will see a familiar face back on campus, with Karim Elbarbary as Virginia's usual No. 1. Elbarbary played three seasons at Princeton after the 2020-21 season was lost to the pandemic and is competing as a graduate student for the Cavaliers after earning All-American honors all three seasons with Princeton and two All-Ivy honors.
Princeton has won the last six against Virginia and is 7-1 against the Cavaliers since the teams' first meeting in the 2017-18 season.
The Tigers will recognize their six-member senior class of Zain Ahmed, Samuel Chiang, Ahmed Hussein, James Kontulis, Gordon Lam and Thomas Rosini prior to the match.
