Croddick Adds Two More Honors After Huge Opener

Ryan Croddick's huge performance in his first start in goal for the Princeton men's lacrosse team has drawn recognition outside of the Ivy League.Two days after being named the Ivy Defensive Player of the Week, Croddick has added the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Player of the Week and USILA Team of the Week honors to his resume.
Neither is all that shocking, considering what Croddick did at Penn State Saturday in Princeton's 11-10 overtime win in the season opener. Croddick officially finished with 22 saves, the most by a goalie in a Division I game this year and the most by a Princeton goalie in his first career start, while making 13 saves in the second half, six in the fourth quarter. He also had an assist after a save that he made while falling backward and then sending a long outlet pass to Jackson Green.
Croddick, a junior, made five saves as a backup for his first two seasons.
Princeton's win over Penn State moved the Tigers to between second and fifth in every major poll. The Tigers have their home opener Saturday at noon against Maryland, who is ranked either second or third in every poll. The Terrapins defeated Princeton in th 2024 NCAA tournament first round and 2022 NCAA semifinals.
