Men's Fencers Head for Friday at NCAAs
March 20, 2025 | Men's Fencing
Just past the midway point of their pool bouts, Princeton's five men's fencers will head into Friday's resumption of competition in position for or contention for All-American honors.
The top 12 fencers in each weapon will earn All-American recognition, and all five Tiger men stand between fifth and 16th in their weapon heading into Friday.
Junior foil Brandon Lee leads the Tigers through one day, standing fifth and just one win back of fourth place, the cut line to advance to the semifinals. Lee had 10 wins in Thursday's 15 bouts, and he'll fence eight more on Friday. Sophomore foil Ethan Um stands 14th with seven wins.
Both épée competitors are in the top 12 through Thursday's bouts, with senior Nicholas Lawson standing 10th at eight wins and sophomore Alec Brooke standing 12th, also with eight wins. Total margin of victory is the first tiebreaker, with Lawson at +4 and Brooke at -2.
In the saber competition, senior Ronald Anglade stands 16th, with seven wins.
Among the 26 schools in the team competition, Princeton's 40 total wins are fifth, with Notre Dame leading the way at 61, ahead of St. John's at 57, Columbia at 53 and Harvard at 40, with the Crimson at +61 in margin of victory to +12 for Princeton.
Friday's competition will get underway at 9 a.m. Semifinal bouts for the individual championship are set to start at 1 p.m.
