PRINCETON, N.J. – The no. 19 Princeton men's volleyball team will hit the road and return to EIVA play against Sacred Heart this weekend. The Tigers will take on the Pioneers at 7 p.m. on Friday before facing them again on Saturday at 4 p.m.

About the Tigers
- Princeton is coming off a win over Daemen this Saturday in Dillon Gym, 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22).
- Nyherowo Omene led the Tigers in the match, with 18-3-27 hitting for an impressive .556 percent on the day. He also added five aces for 23.5 points.
- For his efforts, Omene was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week. The award is his third this season and fourth of his career.
- Omene leads the EIVA with 4.22 kills per set. He also is second in the EIVA with 0.42 aces per set, adding to his 122 career total, which puts him first in the league and eighth nationally across DI.
- The South Holland, Ill. native is a top-10 EIVA leader in five stat categories, including kills per set, aces, hitting percentage (third, .356), blocks (10th, 0.75/s) and points, in which he leads the league with 5.08 per set.
- Nationally, Omene ranks eighth in kills per set and fifth in points per set.
- Also against Daemen, Henry Wedbush gave out 31 assists to go with seven digs and four blocks, leading the Tiger offense to .358 hitting with 13 errors over four sets.
- Wedbush now has 489 assists on the season for 8.89 per set and third in the EIVA.
- Tristan Whitfield has a team-high 45 blocks this season for fourth in the league.
- Princeton was ranked 19th in the latest AVCA poll after being tied with Penn State at 19 last week.
- Princeton is currently tied for first in the EIVA standings with a 3-1 conference record.
- Omene leads the EIVA and is eighth in the nation in career service aces (active) with 117 total. Omene has also become a career leader in kills, currently ranking 9th nationally in division I with 919 total.
- Fellow senior Henry Wedbush leads the Tigers in assists with 458 on the season and 8.98 per set, which is good enough for fourth in the EIVA.
- Rice has had a strong start to his collegiate career, currently averaging 3.09 kills per set which puts him at seventh in the league.
- Roan Alviar leads Princeton in digs, averaging 1.59 per set with 92. He now ranks eighth in the EIVA.
- The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason standings.
- Omene and Wedbush were named to the 2025 EIVA Players to Watch list. Both seniors were named to the All-EIVA First Team at the conclusion of last season.
- Joining the Tiger squad this year are five newcomers in the class of 2025, including Alviar, Ambrose Engling, Rice, Kevin Yang and Ethan Wells. First-years Alviar and Engling were named to the 2025 VolleyballMag Boys Fab 50 list.
- Princeton ended the 2024 season with a trip to the EIVA quarterfinals and an AVCA ranking of 18 in the final coaches' poll. The Tigers went 12-12 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
- Whitfield was named the 2024 EIVA Freshman of the Year. Now in his sophomore season, Whitfield led the EIVA in blocks last year with 80.0 while also recording 23 digs, 65 kills (1.08 per set), and six service aces.
- The Tigers are led by Sam Shweisky, who has coached the Tigers to 2 EIVA Championships and 6 EIVA Finals. Shweisky is in his 16th year as head coach of the Princeton men's volleyball program, and he is assisted by Joe Norton in his second year.
About Sacred Heart
- Sacred Heart enters the weekend 6-11 on the season and 0-6 in the EIVA.
- Aleksa Mandic leads the Pioneers in kills with 176 on the season for 3.14/s.
- Austin Buchanan leads SHU in assists with 6.42 a set and 289 total.
- Defensively, Harryzen Soares leads Sacred Heart in digs with 1.75 a set, while Ken Naples has posted 45.0 total blocks this season.
- Princeton is 19-5 all-time against the Pioneers, with the last meetup an SHU win in Dillon. Before that, the Tigers won the last eight.
