PRINCETON, N.J. – It's spring break on Princeton's campus and the No. 20 men's volleyball team is heading west. The Tigers will play three matches in California starting with UC San Diego on Monday night at 10:00 PM ET followed by a midweek matchup against CSUN on Wednesday at 9:00 PM ET.

PRINCETON, N.J. – It's spring break on Princeton's campus and the No. 20 men's volleyball team is heading west. The Tigers will play three matches in California starting with UC San Diego on Monday night at 10:00 PM ET followed by a midweek matchup against CSUN on Wednesday at 9:00 PM ET.
About the Tigers
- Princeton split the weekend with a 3-1 victory over NJIT, the second time the Tigers defeated the Highlanders this season. Princeton was unable to carry this into the matchup against Lincoln Memorial as the Tigers fell 3-0 in Dillon Gym.
- Princeton entered the top-20 in the latest AVCA poll at No. 20 after receiving votes the week prior.
- Nyherowo Omene logged 26 kills, eight blocks and a service ace across the weekend. The senior captain leads Princeton and the EIVA with 160 kills and is averaging 4.00 per set.
- Service aces have been a key for the Tigers, with three players in the top-10 in the EIVA in service aces per set– Omene leads the conference at .45, Ryan Vena is seventh at 0.33 and Tristan Whitfield is tenth at .30.
- Omene leads the EIVA and is seventh in the nation in career service aces (active) with 117 total. Omene has also become a career leader in kills, currently ranking 11th nationally in division I with 865 total.
- Fellow senior Henry Wedbush leads the Tigers in assists with 361 on the season and 9.03 per set, which is good enough for fourth in the EIVA.
- Rice has had a strong start to his collegiate career, currently averaging 3.09 kills per set which puts him at seventh in the league.
- Roan Alviar leads Princeton in digs, averaging 1.77 per set with 76. He now ranks sixth in the EIVA.
- The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason standings.
- Omene and Wedbush were named to the 2025 EIVA Players to Watch list. Both seniors were named to the All-EIVA First Team at the conclusion of last season.
- Joining the Tiger squad this year are five newcomers in the class of 2025, including Alviar, Ambrose Engling, Rice, Kevin Yang and Ethan Wells.
- First-years Alviar and Engling were named to the 2025 VolleyballMag Boys Fab 50 list.
- Princeton ended the 2024 season with a trip to the EIVA quarterfinals and an AVCA ranking of 18 in the final coaches' poll. The Tigers went 12-12 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
- Sophomore captain Tristan Whitfield was named the 2024 EIVA Freshman of the Year. Now entering his sophomore season, Whitfield led the EIVA in blocks last year with 80.0 while also recording 23 digs, 65 kills (1.08 per set), and six service aces.
- The Tigers are led by Sam Shweisky, who has coached the Tigers to 2 EIVA Championships and 6 EIVA Finals. Shweisky is in his 16th year as head coach of the Princeton men's volleyball program, and he is assisted by Joe Norton in his second year.
About No. 13 UC San Diego
- The Tritons sit at 14-4 on the season and are currently on a five match win streak as they welcome the Tigers into town.
- UC San Diego moved up one spot to No. 13 in the AVCA poll after a 3-1 victory over No. 17 UC Santa Barbara.
- Jim Garrison is second across the country in blocks per set with an average of 1.209.
- Bryce Dvorak sits ninth overall in Division I in assists per set with 10.15.
- The all-time series between the Tigers and Tritons is 12-4 in favor of UC San Diego. In the last meeting between the two teams in 2024, Princeton picked up a 3-0 sweep.
About No. 7 CSUN
- CSUN jumped up three spots to No. 7 in the latest AVCA poll
- The Matadors were on an eight-match win streak before falling to the top team in the country in Long Beach State 3-0.
- Stilian Delibosov leads the country in blocks per set with 1.300.
- Donovan Constable is fifth in the nation in assists per set with an average of 10.38 and the team as a whole is sixth with 11.93 per set.
- The all-time series is tied at three matches a piece where most recently, the Tigers picked up a 3-2 victory about 10 years ago in 2015
