PRINCETON, N.J. – Coming off a huge weekend sweep of Harvard at home, the no. 19 Princeton men's volleyball team will close out the regular season and compete for the EIVA regular season title this weekend at Penn State.
The Tigers and the Nittany Lions will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday in University Park, Pa.

The Tigers and the Nittany Lions will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday in University Park, Pa.
Last Time Out
- Princeton swept Harvard in Dillon Gym this weekend, defeating the Crimson 3-0 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday.
- With the wins, Princeton's record improved to 13-9 overall and 9-1 in the EIVA, solidifying their place on top of the EIVA table heading into the final week of competition.
- In the standings, Princeton now holds at least a share of the EIVA regular season title, and will need to defeat Penn State once this weekend to clinch the title outright and claim hosting rights for next week's EIVA tournament.
- Nyherowo Omene led the Tigers on the weekend, hitting 43-15-85 for .329 while adding three assists and three aces. Defensively, Omene had 16-for-16 reception, also making two blocks to go along with his 11 digs.
- For his efforts, Omene was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, the senior's second-consecutive and fifth weekly award this season.
- Omene reached his 1000th kill on Friday night, now at 1,032 all-time which puts him eighth nationally across Division I in active career leaders.
- After this weekend's matches, Omene has posted double figures in kills in 18 of his 21 matches this season. He has hit 20 or more kills in three matches so far.
- Mason Rice added 21 kills on the weekend, adding one ace, eight digs and team-high six blocks. In game one, he hit 16-1-27 for .556.
- Ryan Vena also had a strong weekend, hitting 14-2-23 for .522 with an ace, an assist, five digs and four blocks, two solo. He hit .500 or better in both matches.
- Henry Wedbush racked up 88 assists on the weekend for 11.00 a set.
In the Rankings
- Princeton leads the EIVA in eight stat categories, among them hitting percentage (.279), points per set (15.47), and blocks (2.48/s).
- Nationally, the Tigers rank fifth in blocks, 13th in opponent hitting percentage (.219) and 21st in hitting percentage.
- Omene currently leads the EIVA in three categories, including kills (4.25), aces (0.47) and points (5.14) per set. He is also second in hitting percentage (.333).
- Omene ranks third in the nation in points per set and sixth in kills per set.
- Wedbush ranks third in the EIVA and 26th nationally in assists per set with 9.31.
- Sophomore Tristan Whitfield currently ranks fourth in the EIVA in blocks per set with 0.95 and a total of 60 on the season, as the 2024 EIVA Freshman of the Year continues to be a defensive powerhouse for the Tigers.
- First-year Roan Alviar leads the Tigers and ranks sixth in the EIVA with 1.71 digs a set.
Looking Back
- The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason standings.
- Omene and Wedbush were named to the 2025 EIVA Players to Watch list. Both seniors were named to the All-EIVA First Team at the conclusion of last season.
- The Tigers are led by Sam Shweisky, who has coached the Tigers to 2 EIVA Championships and 6 EIVA Finals. Shweisky is in his 16th year as head coach of the Princeton men's volleyball program, and he is assisted by Joe Norton in his second year.
