PRINCETON, N.J. – Coming off a weekend sweep of Sacred Heart, the no. 19 Princeton men's volleyball team will return home for another EIVA battle against George Mason on Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th.
The Tigers and the Patriots will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Tigers and the Patriots will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
About the Tigers
- Princeton enters the weekend 9-9 on the season and 5-1 in the EIVA, leading in the league standings.
- The Tigers completed a sweep of Sacred Heart this weekend, defeating the Pioneers 3-1 on Friday and 3-0 on Saturday.
- Combined, the Tigers have an EIVA-leading hitting percentage of .272, which puts them at 24th nationally.
- Princeton is also ranked 19th nationally in blocks per set with 2.28.
- Nyherowo Omene led the Tigers on the weekend, posting 26 kills and .273 hitting, going along with five aces for a team-high total of 33.5 points. Omene also notched 18 digs and five blocks across both games.
- Omene has now hit double-digit kills in his last twelve matches, doing so in 14 of 16 games this season. He leads the EIVA in kills per set with 4.16, and in aces with 0.45 per set. Omene also leads the league, averaging 5.05 points a set.
- With 127 total, Omene is an active career leader in aces - coming in at first in the EIVA and sixth nationally across Division I.
- Omene is also a national leader in kills per set and points per set, coming in at seventh and fifth, respectively.
- Junior Ryan Vena also had a strong weekend against Sacred Heart, Rhitting 18-1-25 .680 with an ace, an assist, nine digs and nine blocks. In Match 2, he hit 9-0-11 for .818 with five blocks.
- Henry Wedbush has been a leader in assists for the Tigers all season, as he added 67 this weekend to his total of 556 this year. The senior ranks third in the EIVA with 8.97 a set.
- Tristan Whitfield leads the Tigers in blocks with 47.0 on the season. Now in his sophomore year, the EIVA 2024 Freshman of the Year currently ranks fourth in the league in blocks with 0.90 a set.
- First-year Mason Rice has had a strong start to his collegiate career, currently averaging 2.97 kills per set which puts him at eighth in the league.
- Fellow first-year Roan Alviar leads Princeton in digs, averaging 1.60 per set. He now ranks eighth in the EIVA.
- The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason standings.
- Omene and Wedbush were named to the 2025 EIVA Players to Watch list. Both seniors were named to the All-EIVA First Team at the conclusion of last season.
- The Tigers are led by Sam Shweisky, who has coached the Tigers to 2 EIVA Championships and 6 EIVA Finals. Shweisky is in his 16th year as head coach of the Princeton men's volleyball program, and he is assisted by Joe Norton in his second year.
- George Mason is 13-8 on the season and 4-2 in the EIVA, taking second place in the league standings behind Princeton.
- Most recently, the Patriots split a weekend series with Harvard, besting the Crimson 3-2 on Friday night and dropping a sweep 3-0 on Saturday.
- George Mason leads the EIVA in service aces with 1.48 a set team-wide.
- Alexander Lillie leads the EIVA in hitting percentage with 118-29-209 hitting for .426 this season so far.
- Lillie also leads the league in blocks, with 1.04 a set.
- Princeton is 18-21 all-time against the Patriots in the series dating back to 2005.
- The last matchup was a 3-2 George Mason victory on the road in Virginia, with the Tigers and the Patriots splitting the series last season after a home 3-0 victory in Princeton
