June 30, 2025 | Women's Swimming and Diving
PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University women's swimming & diving Head Coach Abby Brethauer announced the addition of Emmett Adams to her staff as an assistant coach Wednesday morning.
"Emmett brings an exceptional combination of competitive achievement and coaching expertise that will be invaluable to our program," said Brethauer. "His experience working with swimmers at every level, from youth development to elite competitors, along with his understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest levels collegiately, will help our student-athletes reach their full potential both in the pool and in the classroom. His commitment to mental health awareness and creating inclusive environments aligns perfectly with our team values. We are so excited to welcome him to the Tiger Family."
Adams joins the Tigers' staff from Tufts. He was a member of the NCAA DIII National Championship 200 medley relay as a senior in 2025, an 11-time All-American, a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American, a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) record holder and a five-time Tufts record holder.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to be joining the Princeton swimming and diving program as an assistant coach," said Adams. "I want to begin by thanking Coach Brethauer, the athletic department, and everyone involved in the hiring process for this incredible opportunity.
Princeton's tradition of excellence, both academically and athletically, makes it a truly special place. I'm eager to get started, support these athletes, and contribute to a program with such a rich and inspiring legacy. Go Tigers!"
Adams worked as a swim coach at the Commonwealth Current in Boston, Massachusetts, the past two summers and at Westport Stars in the summers of 2023 and 2022 along with the Black Rock Yacht Club in the summer of 2022. He coached groups of up to 20 swimmers and gave private lessons to children aging from 5-16 years old ranging in ability from age group to national/Olympic trial level swimmers.
In addition, Adams recently worked as a Swim Counselor at the Texas swim camp and the Navy swim camp, along with the Fairfield swim Camp in 2023.
Away from the pool, Adams was Vice President of the Hidden Opponent at Tufts, which promoted mental health awareness for student-athletes, and a representative for Athlete Ally along with a Principal Double Bassist with the Tufts Chamber Orchestra.
