Cherniss and Smith Named To U.S. U-23 Team

PRINCETON – Joely Cherniss and Ellie Smith of the Princeton Women's Rowing Team have been named to the U.S. U-23 National Team, U.S. Rowing has announced.

The two will represent the United States at the 2025 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, July 23-27 in Poznan, Poland. Cherniss will row in eight while Smith will row in the four.

Cherniss is a two-time Ivy League 1V gold medalist, having raced all of her first two seasons on the 1V. The Tigers finished 2025 by winning the Petite Final at the NCAA Rowing Championships.

Smith saw action on the 1V and 2V this season highlighted by helping the 1V to gold at the Ivy League Rowing Championships. She also has earned a bronze medal for the 2V at the Ivy Championships last year.
