PRINCETON, N.J. – Non-conference play for the Princeton University women's volleyball team wraps up at the Penn State Classic inside Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania, from Sept. 19-20 at the Penn State Classic.
Championship Tradition
The Tigers won their 20th Ivy League title in program history in 2023, finishing Ivy play with a 12-2 record. Princeton shared the championship with Yale, who also went 12-2 in conference play. Princeton's 20 Ivy titles are the most of any Ivy program, with Yale's 14 coming in second.
Head Coach Sabrina King
King is in her 14th season as head coach at Princeton. She has guided the Tigers to five Ivy League titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances and has been named Ivy Coach of the Year three times. Throughout her tenure as head coach, King has coached four Ivy League Players of the Year and 44 All-Ivy honorees. A member of the Class of 2001 at Princeton, she won three Ivy titles as a player, was the 1999 Ivy Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Ivy selection.
Recapping The Towson/Coppin State Tournament
Princeton went 2-1 at the Towson/Coppin State Tournament, earning a 3-0 sweep over Iona (25-15, 25-18, 25-13) followed by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, sweep over Coppin State on Sept. 13. The Tigers dropped a hard-fought battle against Towson, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23), on Sept. 12.
All-Tournament Team
Erin McNair and Taylor Clarke were named to the All-Tournament Team at the LD&B Insurance Invitational, which was hosted by James Madison and ran from Sept. 5-6. McNair averaged 2.50 kills-per-set and 2.14 digs while also recording three service aces. Against Bellarmine, McNair had a career-high 21 kills, a career-high 13 digs and two service aces then against JMU she compiled 12 kills and six digs.
Across Princeton's three matches, Clarke averaged 3.25 kills and hit .420. She also recorded four digs and three blocks.
In the Tigers' victory over the Knights, Clarke tallied 11 kills on a .500 attacking percentage, four digs and two blocks. Against JMU, Clarke recorded a team-high 15 kills and hit .448.
Ivy Rookie of The Week
The Ivy League announced its first round of weekly awards of 2025 on Sept. 8 and Clarke was honored as Rookie of the Week.
Accurate Hitting
Princeton currently ranks No. 30 in the nation in hitting percentage (.281).
Sensational Scalamandre
Lucia Scalamandre, a three-time All-Ivy honoree, currently ranks No. 5 among active career leaders in hitting percentage (.388). In 2025, she ranks No. 8 in the nation and No. 1 in the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.475), No. 8 in points-per-set (3.42) and No. 6 in blocks-per-set (0.96).
A National Assist Leader
The 2023 Ivy Rookie of the Year, Draper was named to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team in 2024 and is a two-time all-conference selection. She currently ranks No. 8 nationally and leads the Ivy League in assists-per-set (10.88).
Strong Senior Season From Nutakor
Valerie Nutakor ranks fourth in the Ivy League in kills-per-set (3.37) and seventh in points-per-set (3.57)
Big Impact From Bold
Sydney Bold ranks third in the Ivy League in digs-per-set (3.92).
Freshmen Impact
The Tigers freshmen class have quickly made an impact. Clark ranks No. 8 in the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.354) and in kills-per-set (2.94) while Shelby Burriss ranks No. 5 in hitting percentage (.366) and No. 8 in blocks (0.92). Olivia Foye ranks No. 7 in digs (3.10).
Scouting Penn State
The No. 13 Nittany Lions, who won their eighth NCAA championship in 2024, are 4-3 on the season. Most recently, Penn State swept Bucknell inside Rec Hall on Sept. 9, 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-20).

The Chippewas have a 3-6 record on the season and fell to Jacksonville State in the last match on Sept. 13, 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-10, 25-22).
