No. 12/11 Cornell Pulls Away From No. 7 Princeton
January 23, 2026 | Women's Ice Hockey
Issy Wunder scored a goal for the eighth straight game and a point for the 14th straight game early in the second period to open the scoring on Friday night for the No. 7-ranked Princeton women's hockey team against No. 12/11 Cornell at Baker Rink, but the Big Red answered back three times before the middle frame was out and three more times in the third period to pull away and win 6-1.
The loss ended a 13-game Princeton winning streak, the longest in program history, as the Tigers lost for the first time since Nov. 8, 2025.
Riley Sorokan and Angelina DiGirolamo connected in passes along the goal line on the way to finding Wunder to get Princeton on the board with a power-play goal just 84 seconds into the middle frame. Grace Dwyer answere for Cornell just past the midway mark of the period, and Delaney Fleming scored on the advantage to give Cornell the lead with less than six minutes to go before the last ice cut.
Piper Grober scored consecutive goals on either side of the last ice cut, with the second of those coming on the power play, to push the Big Red lead to 4-1 less than four minutes into the third, and from there, Alyssa Regalado added an empty-netter with less than four minutes to go and Georgia Schiff scored with two minutes left to wrap up the scoring.
The Big Red outshot Princeton on goal just 25-20 on the night.
Princeton will return to the ice Saturday for a 3 p.m. start against Colgate.Â
