Women's Swimming & Diving in Commanding Position After Day One at Lejeune Hall

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team ended its first day of competition at Lejeune Hall ahead of all three opponents Friday after a night where the Tigers won seven events.

The quartet of Sophia Sunwoo, Sabrina Johnston, Veronique Rossouw and Edie Simecek opened the night with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.20).
Princeton also won the 400 medley relay, after Johnston, Eliza Brown, Savannah Skow and Sunwoo finished in 3:36.55.
The Tigers earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 IM, with Eleanor Sun winning the event (4:13.60), Sophie Segerson coming in second (4:13.98) and Meg Wheeler third (4:18.83). In addition, Natalie Mak finished fifth (4:21.99).
Princeton earned the top four finishes in the 50 freestyle; Johnston took first (22.59), Rossouw second (23.16), Simecek third (23.17) and Nicole De Pree fourth (23.66).
On the 3-meter board, four Tigers finished inside the top eight. Charlotte Norman came in first (327.35), Charlotte Martinkus second (308.40), Maggie Squire fourth (273.15) and Vivan Brennan fifth (271.65).
The 200 freestyle saw Skow finish first (1:46.10), Chloe Kim second (1:49.60) and Jenna Walters fifth (1:50.44).
Kim would also earn a first place finish (9:44.82) in the 1000 freestyle.
In the 200 butterfly, Heidi Smithwick earned a second place finish (1:58.22) and Sun third (2:00.21).
Edie Simecek took fifth (55.84) in the 100 backstroke and Natalie Farquhar eighth (56.34).
Segerson also came in sixth (1:03.75) in the 100 breaststroke.
