Women’s Cross Country Heads to Lehigh for Paul Short Run

PRINCETON, N.J. — The Princeton University women's cross country team will send a small contingent to the 52nd Paul Short Run Friday at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
The Tigers will compete in the Women's Open 6K, which is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m.

Division I opponents in the field include American, Army West Point, Bowling Green, Brown, Bucknell, Canisius, Charlotte, Colgate, Cornell, Dartmouth, Delaware, Fairfield, Holy Cross, LSU, La Salle, Lehigh, Liberty, Longwood, Maine, Marist, Maryland, Mercer, Monmouth, Navy, Niagara, Ohio State, Penn State, Penn, Pitt, Quinnipiac, Rider, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall, Siena, Stonehill, Stony Brook, Temple, UMBC, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, Virginia, and Yale.
In its last outing, Princeton battled rainy and challenging conditions to finish eighth at the Meadows Challenge on the Princeton XC Course. Emma de Jong led the Tigers with a 21st-place finish in 20:35.8 and was named the Ivy League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance.
Hannah Riggins finished 34th in 20:45.8, while Anna McNatt placed 40th in 20:52.4.
The Tigers had four runners finish inside the top 10 at last year's Paul Short Run, with de Jong, Olivia Martin, Emily Cooper, and Anna Chittenden leading the way.
Friday's race will also provide Princeton with valuable experience on the Goodman Campus course, which will host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Nov. 13.
