About the Tigers
- Princeton is coming off a 3-1 loss to NJIT last weekend as the Tigers opened EIVA play on the road in Newark, N.J.
- Owen Mellon and Andrew Werner led the Tigers with 11 kills apiece, with Mellon adding three blocks and Werner adding an ace. Defensively, Ryan Vena led the Tigers, tallying four blocks and 10 digs for team-highs.
- The last time they played in Dillon, the Tigers went 2-0 with a two-sweep weekend at home as they took down Merrimack and St. Thomas Aquinas.
- Averaging 3.65 kills a set, Mellon leads the Tigers and ranks second in the EIVA. He also ranks second in points (4.13/s) and eighth in hitting percentage (.273).
- Whitfield's 1.05 blocks per set mark a squad-high and put him fourth in the EIVA.
- Mellon had a red-hot start for the Tigers, recording double figures in each of the first three games of the season.
- For his career-high 20 kills and .417 hitting against #5 USC, Mellon was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 19. He now averages 4.50 kills per set and .315 hitting.
- Nolan Kelly has led the Tigers in assists, averaging 8.00 a set.
- Roan Alviar has been solid for the Tigers at libero, averaging 1.70 digs a set while coming up in clutch moments.
- Princeton was picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason poll, with Mason Rice and Ryan Vena named players to watch.
- Princeton kicked off preseason with a trip to Canada, where the Tigers took home two exhibition wins over McMaster and TMU.
- Last year, the Tigers won the EIVA regular season championship. Ultimately, they fell to Penn State in the EIVA tournament finals.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Sam Shweisky, in his 17th year. He is assisted by Joe Norton, in his third.
