Eight Tigers Set to Compete at NCAA Fencing Championships
March 17, 2026 | General, Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Eight Tigers, including five women and three men, are set to compete in the NCAA Championships, set to run Thursday through Sunday at Notre Dame.
For the first time, the NCAA will have a women's full-team championship this year. From 1982-89, the NCAA had a women's foil championship, and beginning in 1990, all weapons counted toward a combined team total. Women's points came only from the foil until 1995, when women's épée was added, and it's been a full six-weapon championship since 2000. Now, the men's points will count toward a men's championship, and the women's points toward a women's championship.
The women's competition will be the first two days. On Thursday, épée will start at 9 a.m. with foil at 11 a.m. and saber at 1:30 p.m. All three weapons will start at 9 a.m. on Friday, with women's championship bouts starting at 1 p.m. with semifinals. The men's competition will follow close to the same format on Saturday and Sunday, with épée starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, foil at 11 a.m. and saber at 1 p.m. All three weapons will start on Sunday at 9 a.m. with championship bouts beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Video of the women's championship bouts will be available here, with the men's championship bouts available here. Results will be available here.
