Husisian Finishes National Runner-Up as Women's Fencing Takes Third at NCAAs
March 20, 2026 | Women's Fencing
Hadley Husisian finished national runner-up, junior classmate Alexandra Lee made the NCAA semifinals, and senior Honor Johnson and rookie Angel Xiao earned All-American honors as the Princeton women's fencing team finished third at the NCAA Championships on Friday at Notre Dame.
The men's competition will begin on Saturday and continue through Sunday, with Alec Brooke, Brandon Lee and Tristan Lumineau representing the Tigers. Results for both the men's and women's competition are available here and here with video of preliminary bouts here and Sunday's men's championship bouts available here.
Husisian finished the épée competition with 19 wins in 23 bouts, the same as top-seeded Eszter Muhari of Notre Dame, but with Muhari winning the tiebreak on touch differential, +42 to +38. Husisian got past Cornell's Ketri Ketkar 15-7 in the semis but fell to Muhari, who won her third NCAA title to go alongside her 2024 Olympic bronze medal, 13-1 in the final. The finish earned Husisian her third All-American honor in as many seasons, along with third-place finishes in 2023 and 2025. Husisian took the 2024 season off from Princeton to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympics.
In the saber competition, Lee finished with the third seed after winning 17 bouts, but Lee fell to Notre Dame's Magda Skarbonkiewicz 15-11 in the semis. The finish earned Lee her third All-American honor as well after Lee turned in a seventh-place finish in 2024 and a third-place finish last year.
Fellow saber Johnson finished eighth with 14 wins, earning All-American honors in her first NCAAs, and épée Xiao finished 10th with 12 wins, also earning her first All-American recognition in her NCAA Championships debut. Sophomore foil Chin-Yi Kong won nine bouts, finishing 15th.
