Ben Syer Named A Finalist For ECAC Coach Of The Year

After a record-setting season, Princeton men's ice hockey head coach Ben Syer has been named a finalist for ECAC Coach of the Year as voted on by his fellow head coaches. This marks his first selection as a finalist and it comes in just his second season as head coach of the Tigers.
The other two finalists are Quinnipiac's Rand Pecknold and Dartmouth's Reid Cashman. The winner will be announced on Thursday at the ECAC Awards Ceremony in Lake Placid.
Syer has guided the Tigers to a 17-12-3 record overall this season, a five-win improvement from his first season and the most wins by a Princeton team since the 2017-18 team won 19 games en route to an ECAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Princeton went 14-2-1 at Hobey Baker Rink this season, setting a new program record for most wins on home ice during a season and surpassing the previous record of 13 held by the 2008-09 team. Nine of those home wins came consecutively to open the home slate which set a new program record for longest home winning streak to start a season.
Syer and the Tigers are headed to Lake Placid for the ECAC Championship Weekend March 20-21 and will play Cornell in the semifinals on March 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the games in Lake Placid are on sale now and can be purchased here.
