About the Tigers
- Princeton is coming off a trip to California that saw the Tigers split a pair of ranked matchups, defeating #12 UC San Diego in a five-set thriller. The Tigers also dropped a contest to #17 CSUN.
- The Tiger defense shined against UCSD, with Nolan Kelly making six blocks and nine digs for team-highs. Owen Mellon and Andrew Werner led on offense with 12 and nine kills apiece, respectively.
- Before that, Mellon tallied a career high 25 kills against Dominican, marking his second of the season, first making 20 kills against #5 USC in January. He now averages 3.41 a set to rank third in the EIVA.
- Kelly has been clutch for the Tigers, ranking third in the EIVA in digs with an average of 2.02 a set. He also ranks fifth in assists, tallying 8.05/s.
- Princeton was picked to finish fourth in the EIVA preseason poll, with Mason Rice and Ryan Vena named players to watch.
- Princeton kicked off preseason with a trip to Canada, where the Tigers took home two exhibition wins over McMaster and TMU.
- Last year, the Tigers won the EIVA regular season championship. Ultimately, they fell to Penn State in the EIVA tournament finals.
- The Tigers are led by Head Coach Sam Shweisky, in his 17th year. He is assisted by Joe Norton, in his third.
- In its first meeting with NJIT this season in Newark in February, Princeton fell 3-1.
- Since then, NJIT has been on a tear, winning four in a row and six of their last eight. The Highlanders were ranked 20th in the latest AVCA poll.
- Wiktor Nowak leads NJIT in kills with 3.71 a set.
- Daniel Latkowski has 0.95 blocks a set for a team-high.
