Burns Named Ivy Offensive Player Of The Week; ILT Will Be Either In Princeton Or Ithaca
April 20, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
TIGERBLOG ON COLIN BURNS
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Colin Burns has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in Princeton's 15-14 win over Harvard Saturday afternoon.
Â
He certainly made a great case for himself, with a career high five goals, including the game-winner with 17 seconds to go. This is the second time in his career that Burns has been honored as Ivy Player of the Week.
Â
Burns, who now has 21 goals and 15 assists on the season as the Tigers' third-leading scorer, gave Princeton a 1-0 lead against the Crimson, scored twice more in the first half following Harvard goals, tied it at 10-10 late in the third quarter and ended it with the game-winner, which came with three seconds on the shot clock in addition to 17 on the game clock.
Â
The win kept Princeton at No. 2 in the Kane Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, USILA Coaches' Poll and USA Lacrosse Poll for the week. It also kept the Tigers in the hunt for an Ivy League championship.
Â
Princeton, now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the league, will host Dartmouth Saturday at 4 on Senior Day, and a win over the Big Green would mean at least a share of the championship, should Cornell defeat Harvard and Princeton defeat Dartmouth.
Â
As for the Ivy tournament, it will either be at Princeton or Cornell and depends entirely on the outcome of the Cornell-Harvard game. Should Cornell win, the tournament would go to Ithaca. Should Harvard beat Cornell, the tournament would be on Sherrerd Field, regardless of any other result Saturday.
