McMeekin Earns Ivy Honor; Game TImes For ILT Set
April 27, 2026 | Men's Lacrosse
Andrew McMeekin came into Princeton's game against Dartmouth Saturday 32 face-off wins shy of tying the program record. For a while, it looked like he might get all 32 of them in that game.Â
McMeekin did get 19 wins, on 21 attempts, including the first 14 he took, as the Tigers beat Dartmouth 17-9 to win a share of the Ivy League championship. McMeekin also had 15 groundballs and an assist, and his performance earned him the final Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week Award of the 2026 season.Â
The 19 wins leave McMeekin with 633 for his career, 13 away from the record of 646, which was set by Greg Waller and which has stood since 1992. McMeekin is already Princeton's career leader in groundballs, and he now has 100 for the year, marking the third straight season he has had at least 100. No other Princeton player has ever had more than one such season.Â
Princeton will now head into the Ivy League tournament Friday night at Cornell as the No. 2 seed and will play the second semifinal against third-seeded Yale. Top-seed Cornell and fourth-seed Harvard will play the first semifinal at 4, and the winners meet Sunday at 1 for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
In some years, earning that bid is the only way into the tournament for the Tigers, as was the case in 2023 and 2024, when the team won the event. This year, Princeton — ranked No. 2 in all three major polls and with an RPI of 3 — knows that it will hear its name called when the NCAA selections are announced Sunday night regardless of the outcome in Ithaca. This will be Princeton's fifth straight NCAA appearance.Â
