Kabiri Named One Of Five Finalists For Tewaaraton Award

Nate Kabiri is the quietest great player Princeton men's lacrosse has had in a long time. His game, though, speaks really loudly.

Kabiri, the soft-spoken Tiger junior attackman, was named one of five finalists for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award, the foundation announced Tuesday night. Kabiri is joined by North Carolina attackman Owen Duffy, Cornell attackman Willem Firth, Notre Dame defenseman Shawn Lyght and Syracuse attackman Joey Spallina.

The award will be presented May 28 in Washington, D.C., not far from Kabiri's home in McLean, Va. Kabiri is Princeton's sixth finalist, along with Trevor Tierney, Ryan Boyle, Tom Schreiber (twice), Michael Sowers and Coulter Mackesy.

A unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection this year, Kabiri has 32 goals and 36 assists on the season. He was most recently the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player this past weekend as Princeton won its third championship in four years.

Princeton earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament and will host the winner of Wednesday's play-in game between Stony Brook ad Marist in the opening round Sunday at 2:30. Kabiri brings 96 career goals and 90 career assists into the tournament, making him and Sowers the only two Princeton players ever with at least 90 of each. Kabiri is up to ninth all-time at Princeton in career points and trails only Sowers for points by a Tiger after his junior year.

Princeton had three of the final 25 Tewaaraton nominees, with Kabir, Chad Palumbo and Jack Stahl.
