Eric Robinson '18 Wins Stanley Cup With Carolina Hurricanes

Eric Robinson '18 has gone from undrafted and unsure of his spot in the NHL to undeniable in his place in hockey history.
Following a 3-0 win for the Carolina Hurricanes in Game Six of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, Robinson can now call himself a Stanley Cup champion.
He is the seventh former Princeton men's ice hockey player to etch his name onto the Stanley Cup and the third to do so as a player as he joins George Parros '03 (Anaheim, 2007) and Kevin Westgarth ''07 (Los Angeles, 2012) as Tigers to win Stanley Cups while a current player in the NHL. Robinson is the first to be an active player in the game where he became a Stanley Cup champion.
Other Tigers to be part of Stanley Cup champion teams in coaching or executive roles are Paul Krepelka '91 (Florida, 2024 and 2025), Brent Flahr '96 (Anaheim, 2007) Chris Patrick '98 (Washington '18), Jeff Halpern '99 (Tampa Bay, 2020 and 2021).
Robinson's Stanley Cup marks the sixth time in the last nine years that a former Princeton men's ice hockey player has celebrated a Stanley Cup championship.
After a four-year career at Princeton that included serving as co-captain of Princeton's 2018 ECAC Championship team and tallying 67 career points, Robinson signed as an undrafted free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets where he played in one game before the end of the 2017-18 NHL season.
He has played in every NHL season since, registering 455 regular season games where he's totalled 141 points on 66 goals and 75 assists while playing for Columbus, Buffalo and Carolina.
After 10 playoff games with the Blue Jackets during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs held in a bubble during COVID-19, Robinson did not see any playoff action until signing with the Hurricanes before the 2024-25 season. During that run, which saw the Hurricanes reach the Eastern Conference Final, Robinson had three points in 15 games.
This playoff campaign, he played a playoff career high 19 games while setting new personal playoff bests in goals (3), assists (5) and points (8).
