Eric Zhao Qualifies For RBC Canadian Open; Set To Make PGA Tour Debut

Rising sophomore Eric Zhao will make his PGA Tour debut this coming week after qualifying for the RBC Canadian Open which will be played June 10-14 at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course) in Caledon, Ont.
Zhao earned his way into the field by winning the Final Qualifier held June 7 at The Pulpit Club in Caledon, Ont. A field of 83 players teed off in search of one of the four qualifying spots. Zhao shot a 67 (-4) to tie for medalist honors and secure his spot in the field. He had five birdies and one bogey, making his move on the back nine when he birdied holes 11, 12, and 13 to get to -4 for the day.
"That was a lot of fun, I have to give credit to my caddie, he had some good reads on the green today, and I made some good putts coming in," said Zhao in an interview after the round. "This is going to be my first PGA TOUR event, it's going to be super fun, it's an honor to get to have my first one be in Canada and get represent my country. It's going to be really cool with the fans being mostly Canadian," said Zhao when asked what is means to play in the RBC Canadian Open.
Zhao will be competing alongside an elite field of PGA Tour professionals this week. Included in the field are major champions such as Brooks Koepka, Matt Fitzpatrick, Colin Morikawa Aaron Rai, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose as well as defending TOUR Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood.
