At Princeton — 2015: coxed the 3V to a silver medal at the Eastern Sprints, the best lightweight finish at the event … coxed the fours at the IRA Championships to a fifth-place finish … helped Princeton retain the Vogel Cup (team points) with a 3V win at the Goldthwait Cup regatta … 3V went 8-1 during the regular season.
Before Princeton — both rowed and coxed in high school before focusing primarily on coxing … recipient of the Coaches’ Award for boys’ varsity crew … helped boat (Boys Varsity Second) win the 2013 Coaches’ Award … also competed in alpine skiing and field hockey … recipient of the Dickey Prize in both Spanish and fine arts … recipient of the Maybank Prize in Fine Arts and Architecture … earned the Ferguson Scholarship … two-time recipient of the Ambassador Duke Spanish Prize … earned the Sprague Chorus Prize, the Ellsworth Greenley Prize and the Charles S. Knox Memorial Cup.
Personal — born July 26, 1995 … daughter of John and Sara O’Connell … has an older sister Courtney … cousin Chris Ahrens ’98 is in the National Rowing Foundation Hall of Fame; he helped lead Princeton to three IRA championships and one Sprints title in four years, and he was a gold medalist in the 2004 Athens Games … enjoys a cappella singing, baking and reading.
