PRINCETON, N.J. (12/28/15) - The Princeton hockey season resumes on this week as the Tigers take on travel partner Quinnipiac in the annual home-and-home series. Princeton hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m., at Hobey Baker Rink, before the Bobcats return the favor the following night.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton enters the week with a 4-9 record after an 18-day hiatus. The team most recently lost a 6-3 game at Penn State back on Dec. 11. The Tigers are seventh in the ECAC Hockey league with a 3-5 record. Freshman Ryan Kuffner and sophomore David Hallisey lead the Tigers in the scoring column with nine points each. Kuffner has four goals and five assists, while Hallisey has two goals and team-high seven helpers. Sophomore Eric Robinson has scored the most goals, six total, with two coming against the Nittany Lions. Freshman Max Véronneay and junior Ryan Sirro chip in five points apiece. Junior Colton Phinney owns every decision and has a .937 save percentage and a 2.51 goals against average
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac's 17-game unbeaten streak came to an end in its last game with a 4-1 loss to Boston University on Dec. 12. The Bobcats are now 15-1-2, but remain undefeated in the ECAC with a 6-0-2 mark to sit in first place in the league standings. Quinnipiac boasts the best scoring defense in the nation at 1.39 goals per game. Senior Michael Garteig is 15-1-2 with a .948 save percentage and a 1.24 GAA, ranking third in the country in both categories. Junior Sam Anas has a team-leading 19 points on 10 goals and nine assists. Classmate Tim Clifton has also scored 10 goals and adds five helpers. Senior Travis St. Denis has two more points with eight goals and nine assists. Following that trio is sophomore Landon Smith and freshman Chase Priskie with 13 points apiece. Priskie has the most assists on the team, with 12, and has scored once.
THE SERIES
Quinnipiac holds a three-game edge in the all-time series, 12-9-1. The Bobcats swept the series last season by 2-0 and 1-0 scores. Princeton's last win was a 4-3 game on Nov. 23, 2013 in Hamden.
