Women's Open Rowing Places Sixth Overall at NCAAs

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The No. 5 Princeton Women's Open Rowing finished up the NCAA Rowing Championships on Sunday morning.

The Tigers' varsity four picked up a fourth-place finish in its Petite Final at 6:58.3, trailing California (6:47.9), Yale (6:49.5) and Brown (6:54.1). That position gave them 10th place overall, outpacing their seed (No. 11). That boat has been outside the top 10 just twice since 2009.

Princeton's second varsity nabbed fifth place in its Grand Final (6:03.1) just behind Tennessee (6:02.9) for fourth. Stanford (5:52.9), Texas (5:58.7) and Virginia (5:58.2) were on the podium. This boat has recorded fifth consecutive top five finishes.

Head coach Lori Dauphiny's first varsity corralled sixth place in its Grand Final (6:00.0). Texas (5:47.7) won the race, also giving the Longhorns the team national title as well. Stanford was second (5:50.1), Tennessee was third (5:51.4) followed by Virginia (5:52.3) and Yale (5:53.4). This boat has rowed in the Grand Final in four of the past five NCAA regattas.

The Tigers finished sixth overall in the team standings behind Texas (130), Stanford (125), Tennessee (119), Virginia (114) and Yale (103). It's the fifth straight year the Tigers have placed at least sixth or better at NCAAs.

"I'm very proud of our team today," said Dauphiny. "Every team rowed to very fast times so to record another top 10 finish with our team is something we can build on for next year."
