Princeton's Women's Soccer Ivy League Championships
2024
Princeton and Columbia met on the final day of the regular season with Princeton trailing the Lions by a point in the Ivy League standings and needing to win to secure the Ivy title and host the Ivy League Tournament for the first time. The Tigers did just that, defeating Columbia 1-0 to win the Ivy League title before going on to win the Ivy League Tournament, becoming the first team to win both the Ivy League championship through regular-season round-robin play and follow it up with the Ivy League Tournament title.
2018
Princeton beat Penn in a battle for first place in the Ivy on the season's final day, and both teams finished with 16 points. The Tigers were 1-1-1 after three Ivy games but won each of the last four in the league, all by shutout, before being sent to Texas Tech for the first round of the NCAA tournament.
2017
Princeton and Columbia met in mid-October with each at 3-0, and although the Tigers lost that game to the Lions, Princeton emerged on top at the end of the Ivy slate after winning the final three games to finish two points ahead of Columbia for the outright title. Princeton hosted an NCAA first-round game at Roberts Stadium, defeating Monmouth, and then went on to sweep the second-and-third-round weekend in Cary, N.C. against No. 21 N.C. State and No. 2 North Carolina before a loss at UCLA in the quarterfinals.
2015
Princeton opened Ivy League play with a 6-0 record, earning a No. 24 NSCAA ranking before tie at Penn to end the regular season. The 13-3-1 regular-season record helped earn Princeton a home game to start the NCAA tournament for the first time since Roberts Stadium opened in 2008, and the Tigers won that first-round match against Boston College 4-2.
2012
For the second time in program history, Princeton swept the league at 7-0, defeating Penn on the season's final day to secure the outright title and the NCAA bid over the 6-1 Quakers and Dartmouth. It was the program's third outright Ivy title after 2002 and 2004. Princeton went on to advance past the first round of NCAA tournament game for the fourth time in program history, defeating West Virginia in the program's first road postseason win.
2008
The 2008 title was a shared affair and came down to the season's final day. A 2-1 double-overtime win over Penn to cap the first season on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium secured Princeton its piece of the Ivy crown. Princeton shut out four Ivy opponents as part of 10 shutouts in all on the season and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. There, the Tigers came up just short to West Virginia, falling 2-1 in a match hosted by Virginia.
2004
Princeton was the outright champion again in 2004, finishing 7-0 in Ivy League play for the first time in program history. It was only the fourth time since the seven-game Ivy League schedule began in 1991 that a team won all seven league matches. The Tigers allowed only three goals in the entirety of Ivy League play, and the team's 15-2 overall regular-season record gave Princeton the chance to open the NCAA tournament at home for the third time. Princeton won four NCAA tournament games at Lourie-Love Field to advance to the 2004 NCAA College Cup semifinal.
2002
Princeton's first outright Ivy League title came in 2002, when Princeton went 6-1 and finished a game clear of the field. The Tigers' 12-0 overall start to the season included a 5-0 start to league play, and the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament resulted in Princeton traveling to Maryland to play Penn State in the first round.
2001
Princeton was one of three teams to claim a share of the Ivy League title in 2001 after the Tigers got out to a 5-0 start in league play. Princeton gained its second NCAA tournament victory in what was also its second NCAA tournament home game, defeating Loyola (Md.) 3-1 in the first round. Princeton then hosted local rival Rutgers in the second round, but fell 1-0.
2000
Princeton got back on top of the Ivy League in 2000, finishing at 6-1 to secure a share of the championship. All six Ivy League victories came by shutout. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA championship, winning the Ivy League's automatic bid, and took host Wisconsin to double overtime before falling 1-0.
1982
Princeton finished 4-1 in what was then a six-team Ivy League for women's soccer, as Columbia joined in 1986 and Penn did so in 1991. Princeton won its first four Ivy League games, securing a share of the championship. The Tigers went on to host and defeat George Mason in the first round of the inaugural NCAA tournament before falling to eventual champion North Carolina in the second round.
