John Dowgin enters his second season with the sprint football program. Dowgin brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Tigers’ sideline and returns to Princeton for a third stint. Serving as an assistant under Tom Murray from 1991-97, Dowgin also coached under Keith Wadsworth and Bill Hickey from 2000-05.
Prior to Princeton, Dowgin coached the Rutgers lightweight squad under Charles Eibeler (1981-90). He got his coaching start at St. Peter’s High School from 1972-80, helping to guide the team to a state championship in 1975. In his most recent stint with the Tigers, Dowgin served as the squad’s defensive coordinator.
Graduating from New Brunswick High School in 1967, Dowgin earned All-County honors in football and track. Earning a degree from Salem College, he was a member of the football and track teams before an injury ended his playing career during his sophomore season.
