Elliott Carr enters his sixth year as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications after starting at Princeton in the fall of 2019. He serves as the primary communications contact for the men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s swimming & diving, women’s swimming & diving and women’s rugby programs.
Additionally, he has also served as primary contact for the men’s volleyball and men’s & women’s track & field programs.
A Tiger Award recipient (awarded to Princeton employees who have gone above and beyond in their job responsibilities) in April 2022, Carr leads the men’s basketball team’s content and media relations strategy, doing so for the Tigers' historic Sweet Sixteen run in 2023 and run of three straight Ivy League titles from 2022 to 2024. He has helped facilitate interviews and place stories in national publications such as the New York Times, the Athletic, the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, USA Today and GQ Magazine along with television appearances on ESPN, CNN, Good Morning America, TBS, BBC and NBC Sports Chicago. Additionally, Carr served as Princeton’s primary point of contact to the production crew for the CBS documentary ‘Think. See. Do. – The Legacy of Pete Carril’ which was aired during the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Overseen by Carr, the Princeton men’s basketball creative team have won nine awards in the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Digital Design Contest, earning six in 2020-21 and three in 2022-23.
Carr’s career in the industry began at North Central College, where he served as a graduate assistant from 2015-17. He was then a Communications Assistant at North Carolina State in 2017-18, before serving as Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations at Long Island University from September 2018 until October 2019.
A four-year member of the men’s basketball team at Clarke University, Carr was an Academic All-Midwest Conference (MCC) selection as a senior. He played semi-professional basketball in Australia and was named to the Hume City Broncos Team of the Decade for 2011-2020.
Carr, a native of Melbourne, Australia, and his wife Colleen have one son and reside in Plainsboro, New Jersey.
