PRINCETON, N.J. - On the heels of the Princeton men's soccer team's shutout victory over Brown last Saturday, Tiger goalkeeper Jason White (Fr., Maple Glen, Pa.) was named the League's Rookie of the Week.
Last week, the freshman from Maple Glen, Pa. allowed only one goal against Columbia in the Tigers' first league loss of the season. Against the Lions, White faced four shots and stopped three of them. Despite dominating the game offensively, Princeton could not give White the support for the win.
Against the 23rd ranked Brown Bears, White earned his second career shutout and made six saves on 11 Bear shots.
White has a season goals against average of 1.01 and a 0.75 mark in Ivy play. His season save percentage is .750 and he has a .824 mark in league games.
Dating back to the Oct. 2 game at Hartwick, White has given up only one goal in 270 minutes.
Princeton's record is now 5-3 overall and 3-1 in Ivy League play. The Tigers next play Loyola at 8 p.m. at Lourie-Love Field on Wednesday, Oct. 13 and are at American University on Saturday. The Tigers have positioned themselves at the top of the Ivy League with Cornell and hold a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Big Red by virtue of their 2-1 win on Sept. 19. The Tigers continue league play on October 23 at Harvard.
