DeCore And Company Shut Down The Hawks

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ten different Tigers tallied at least one point and 28 players saw action as the Princeton women's soccer team defeated Lehigh tonight 9-0 at Lourie-Love Field. The win stretched the Tigers' unbeaten streak to nine games.
Dana DeCore (Sr., Pennington, N.J.) opened scoring in the 23rd minute, taking a pass from fellow co-captain Julie Shaner (Jr., Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) and knocked in her second goal of the season. DeCore would later score to bring her career points total to 53, moving her into third place all-time at Princeton.
The Tigers extended their lead to 3-0 on a pair of goals by freshmen Alex Fiore (Garden City, N.Y.) and Joan Cundey (Bay Village, Ohio). Junior Amee Reyes (Wheeling, W.Va.) scored her team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the season in the final five minutes of the first half, as the Tigers took a 5-0 lead into intermission.
Despite looking a little less dominating in the opening minutes of the second stanza, The Tigers continued to put points on the board. Freshman Josie Francica (Paramus, N.J.) fired a bullet into the top right corner at the 67:08 mark and assisted on goals by DeCore and Tricia Murray (Sr., Farmington, Conn.) as Princeton continued to overpower the Mountain Hawks. Jennie Platt (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.), who scored four goals against Lehigh a year ago, rounded out the scoring off an assist from Emily Poe (Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) in the 80th minute. The Tigers played keep-away in the final minutes to raise their record to 5-0-1 on home soil. Goalkeepers Jordan Rettig (Jr., West Hartford, Conn.) and Catherine Glenn (So., Jacksonville, Fla.) split time in goal, and the streak of 258 minutes without giving up a goal was never in jeopardy, as Lehigh mustered only two shots on goal. Mountain Hawk goalie Jami Bisetti made 11 saves in net.
Princeton is now 8-2-1 on the year and will continue non-league action this Sunday as they travel to Colgate. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
