Princeton Falls to Virginia 2-1 in Men's Soccer Thriller

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Tigers and Cavaliers battled for three overtimes before today's first round matchup was decided. With the 2-1 win, Virginia advances to the second round to take on Brown next weekend.
Virginia scored first in the 8th minute of play and had another quality scoring chance only two minutes later.
Princeton's best scoring chance came with less than a mintue remaining in the first half, but Matt Behncke's shot sailed just over the crossbar.
Virginia came out of the lockerroom with two scoring chances. The first was batted away by goalie Jason White, and the second was cleared off the goal line by Walker Wright.
Later on in the second half, Mike Nugent had a shot hit the crossbar. The Tigers evened the score with 15 minutes remaining in the second half when Lucas Moskowitz connected from 18 yards out. Matt Striebel assisted. The Tigers and the Wahoos battles through two overtimes before either team could score the game winner.
Princeton had a perfect scoring chance near the beginning of the third overtime as Matt Douglas was all alone in front of the goal with a one-on-one situation with Cavalier keeper David Comfort, but Douglas' shot was denied. In the 128th minute of play, Virginia's Drew O'Donnell sent a shot past three defenders and White for the game-winner after 127:15 of play.
The loss ends Princeton's season at 11-5-2 and also the careers of Chad Adams, Griff Behncke, Walker Wright and Brien Wassner.
