PRINCETON, N.J. - After a defensive-minded battle at Yale last Friday that ended as Princeton's first win of the season, the Tigers and Bulldogs seemed poised for another low-scoring effort. That lasted for about 20 minutes before both squads let the offenses fly in a 5-5 tie at Baker Rink.
After a scoreless first period, Yale jumped out to leads of 1-0 and 3-1 in the second period. The resilient Tigers battled back with goals by Brad Parsons and David Schneider, both on the power play, to tie the score at 3-3. Yale had allowed only two goals on the power-play heading into the game. Both goals were assisted by Kirk Lamb and either Parsons or Schneider.
Yale jumped ahead again, but a pair of freshmen worked together on Princeton's first even-strength goal of the game. Defenseman Trevor Beaney recorded his first collegiate point when he hit George Parros with a perfect pass for the goal. Yale took a 5-4 lead before Chris Corrinet scored his second goal of the game at 18:40 of the period to ensure the tie. Corrinet took a pass from captain Darren Yopyk at the Yale blue line and made a spectacular move to break free from the last remaining Yale defenseman. He beat Trevor Hanger to tie the score. Princeton was unable to get a shot on net in overtime, but Craig Bradley turned away the only two Yale shots to ensure the win. He made 24 saves to earn his third tie in four decisions.
