PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Princeton senior Griff Behncke's penalty kick with one minute remaining in regulation lifted the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Penn's men's soccer team on Senior Day this afternoon at Rhodes Field. The penalty kick was awarded after Princeton forward Matt Striebel and Penn goalie Michael O'Connor collided pursuing a pass sent in by the Princeton midfield. The referee called O'Connor for the penalty and Behncke's shot found the right corner for the only goal of the game.
Penn, which was outshot 10-4, received standout performances from O'Connor, who registered five saves on the afternoon, and freshman midfielder Nathan Kennedy.
Princeton improved to 5-1 in Ivy play, while the Quakers fell to 0-5-1 in the Ivies. Princeton is now 10-4-1 overall and plays host to Yale next Saturday at 4 p.m.
