PRINCETON, N.J. - Bemidji State handed the Princeton men's hockey team its second one-goal loss in as many nights in Bemidji, Minn. Jason Hanson's early third-period goal was the game-winner as the Beavers took a 2-1 victory.
After a scoreless first period, Bemidji's Scot Dickson scored a power-play goal in the second to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead at 18:10. Princeton sophomore Ryan Kraliz tied the game just 1:23 into the third period as David Del Monte and Chris Corrinet collected the assists. Hanson's goal a little more than three minutes later closed out the scoring.
Kraliz, the sophomore forward from Welland, Ont., was the Tigers' bright spot during the weekend series at Bemidji. While not dressing for any games a year ago, Kraliz has played in seven of the team's 12 games this season. He scored a pair of goals against Bemidji and added an assist against Cornell on Dec. 3, giving him three career points, all in the last four games.
Dave Stathos and Nate Nomeland shared the goaltending duties against Bemidji on Saturday and combined to make 20 saves. Nomeland, a freshman from Fargo, N.D., was seeing his first action of the season. Bemidji goalie Adam Pavlatos stopped 21 shots.
Princeton did not score on any of its five power plays, and Bemidji converted one of its four opportunities.
Princeton is 3-6-3 overall, Bemidji has a 5-10-1 record following the two victories against the Tigers.
Next week Princeton will travel to Notre Dame to face the Fighting Irish on Sunday, Dec. 19 and Monday, Dec. 20.
