Tigers Explode in Second Half for 6-0 Rout Over Lehigh

PRINCETON, N.J. - Whatever head coach Julie Shackford said at halftime must have done the trick. After a scoreless first half, the Princeton Tigers exploded in the second half for six goals en route to their sixth straight victory and ninth win of the season.
The win improves Princeton to 9-2 overall, 3-1 in Ivy competition, while Lehigh drops to 5-8, 1-3 in Patriot league play.
After a very lethargic first half, both teams headed into the intermission without a goal.
Julie Porter (Sr., W. Paterson, NJ) put the Tigers on the board at the 53:35 mark as she netted her first of two goals off a deflection from Amee Reyes (So., Wheeling, WVa.). Porter added her second goal nine minutes later when she connected on a long pass from Dana DeCore (Jr., Pennington, NJ).
In the 74th minute, Jennie Platt (So., Jacksonville, Fla.) scored her first goal of the game as she found the back of the net off a long serve from Decore. Platt was nowhere near finished. Thirty-two seconds she did it again. Exactly three minutes later, Platt recorded her first career hat trick on a scoring header from a pass off the foot of Kelly Sosa (Fr., Oneonta, NY).
Just for good measure, Platt rounded out the Tiger scoring with her second header with just over five minutes remaining in the game to give Princeton the 6-0 shutout.
Tiger keeper Jordan Rettig (So., W. Hartford, CT) had little to worry about as the Mountain Hawks mustered only two shots on goal, both in the first half.
The Tigers outshot Lehigh 25-2, and held a 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Tigers return to action Sunday when they travel to ACC foe Virginia. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
