Princeton Wrestlers Split in Tri-Match

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University wrestling team split a pair of matches in the tri-meet including Seton Hall and Millersville. The Tigers fell to the Pirates by the score of 23-14, but came back to defeat the Maraliders 34-12.
In the 149-pound match, Jeffery Bernd (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) defeated Seton Hall's Jerry Berry 10-6 with a 2:25 advantage in riding time. Albert Pendleton (Fr., Atlanta, Ga.) picked up a win in the 157-pound match with a 12-4 victory over Larry Smashey. In the 165-pound match, Ryan Bonfiglio (Jr., Lansdale, Pa.) took the Tigers final match over the Pirates, defeating Paul Wilson 20-11.
The Tigers took seven of the 10 matches with Millersville, led by Anthony DeBartolo (Fr., Pittsburg, Pa.) who used 3:12 advantage in riding time for the 6-4 win over Adam Schaf in the 174-pound match. Other Princeton winners included Chris McLaughlin (So., Tampa, Fla.) in the 197-pound match, Marc Steyen (Jr., Topsfield, Mass.) in the 133-pound match and Juan Venturi (So., Katy, Texas) taking the 141-pound match. Bernd, Pendleton and Bonfiglio each won their second match of the day in their respective weight classes.
