WILIAMSBURG, Va. - Three members of the Princeton women's tennis team traveled to William and Mary for the William and Mary Invitational this weekend. Although the Tigers did not come back with any champions, a runner up and a champion of the back draw will suffice.
Kavitha Krishnamurthy (Fr., Oakville, Ont.) lost in the finals of the A Flight bracket to the Tribe's own Delphine Troch. Krishnamurthy fell in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. In the semifinals of the tournament this morning, Krishnamurthy upset Mariel Verban of Wake Forest 6-4, 0-6, 6-3. Verban was the top seed in the tournament and ranked fourth in the nation coming into the tournament.
In the B Flight bracket, Jyotsna Vasisht (Sr., New York, N.Y.) fell in the first round to Prim Siripipat of Duke and then made her way to the finals of the back draw before falling to Lenka Zacharova in three sets.
Amanda Hastings-Phillips (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif.) also fell in the first round of the C-Flight bracket, but she ended up winning the back draw in straight sets.
