PRINCETON, N.J.— The University of Vermont has decided to cancel the remainder of the men's hockey season after an investigation into several hazing incidents reported within the team. Today, the ECAC announced several changes to both the rest of its schedule and how it would rank its 11 teams, which include Princeton University.
Each of Vermont's remaining games, including a Feb. 18 contest against Princeton at Baker Rink, has been cancelled. The Catamounts' travel partner, Dartmouth, has also seen a dramatic change in its schedule. The Big Green will play a number of Sunday contests, including one at Baker Rink on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. The game had originally been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
Furthermore, the league announced that it would rank teams according to winning percentage, not by points, and all previous Vermont games would stand. Vermont defeated Princeton 6-4 on Nov. 13 at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt. According to the new rankings, Princeton, which has a .550 winning percentage within the league, stands in fifth place. The Tigers won't play an ECAC game until Fri., Jan. 29 when they host Rensselaer at 7 p.m.
Ticket holders for both the Vermont and Dartmouth games will be notified within the next week by the ticket office regarding the procedures for refunds or exchanges.
