Princeton, N.J. - More than three hundred hearty fans watched Princeton win its second game in a row with a 1-0 defeat of a solid Hartwick Hawks soccer team as Nugent scored the only goal of the contest at 15:33. The goal came when Nugent fired a rebound past helpless Hartwick netminder Randall Moate. Gianfranco Tripicchio and Matt Striebel assisted on Nugent's goal.
Princeton started the season 4-0 and ascended to 22nd in the nation, but losses to Dartmouth, Rutgers, and Columbia served as a catalyst for the new winning streak experienced by the Tigers.
"After losing our third game in a row to Columbia, we held a team meeting and decided that we needed to be more tenacious as team. We really played hard tonight, " said senior Matt Striebel.
The Tigers played a very crisp game throughout, which had to make coach Jim Barlow happy. Jason White was stellar in the woodwork recording 10 saves as he notched his sixth victory of the season.
Princeton hosts Seton Hall next Wednesday at Lourie-Love Field at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by Comcast.
