Princeton, N.J. - Princeton and Yale will meet in men's soccer to conclude the Ivy League regular season in New Haven, Conn. this Saturday. Last year's classic overtime tie at Princeton was one of the best games played at Lourie-Love Field in recent memory, and the tie earned the Tigers the Ivy League regular-season championship.
After winning two solid games against Adelphi and Pennsylvania this week, Tigers coach Jim Barlow is excited about this weekend's match with the Bulldogs.
"We've had several good games against Yale recently, and we are really looking forward to the season finale," said Barlow.
Nugent, who sustained a high-ankle sprain in the first half of the Seton Hall game on October 11th, missed the last six games as a result. The junior forward from nearby West Windsor, who scored seven goals early in the 2000 campaign, returned to practice sessions this week and the Tigers are hopeful that he will return on Saturday. In Nugent's absence Lucas Moskowitz (Jr., Storrs, Conn.), Matt Striebel (Sr., Gill, Mass.) and Matt Douglass (So., Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) have all made solid contributions at the forward position for the Tigers.
Saturday's game against Yale is key for the Tigers, who are still ranked in the top 40 in the national power ratings. Winning this game could mean a trip to the NCAA tournament, since a field of 32 teams will be selected to the tournament field on Monday November 13th.
